A Mysterious Offer

I was driving back from mountain biking on the sketchiest road imaginable, when I saw a big sign on the side of the road which read: $15,000 REWARD. And an essay of indiscernible words underneath.
I was driving as fast as I could on this road, dodging potholes while trying to avoid hurling off a cliff. I had about 2.5 seconds max to take in the information on the sign. All I got was the reward bit. Had no idea what on earth the reward was about. And neither would anyone else who drove past it.
I put my marketing hat on for the rest of the drive back home. If you were advertising a reward and wanted to get people to inquire, what would you do?
My first thought would’ve been to include a caption for context. Say it’s for a wildly expensive and valuable chihuahua (unlikely, horrible creatures). I would’ve had LOST written in large letters at the top, a blown-up image of said chihuahua, and the “$15,000 reward” at the bottom.
I’d install a 2nd sign just up the road with a large QR code, and the words “Scan For Reward Info” in big letters underneath. The QR code would contain all the important information to refer to later (context, location contact details, etc.).
To take it a step further, I’d put them on a sharp bend in the road, where drivers will naturally slow when approaching. This would give anyone in a passing car time to whip out their phone and scan.
There are all sorts of crazy marketing examples in the world like this, not all of them effective. To get the best marketing for your business, book a call today and we’ll show you how: upshiftmarketingresults.com/call
